A Canadian nurse from Bracebridge Ontario, Rene Caisee (1888 - 1978), was treating cancer patients for 50 years with the formula she called Essiac which, according to her statement, originated from a Native Medicine Man. Since she was not a doctor, she was only treating patients certified by their physicians as "terminal". Many users of Essiac believe that this herbal tea does improve the body’s ability to fight cancer and it helps people to ease pain they encounter during the illness.
